Over the weekend my 11 year old daughter read 5 Felicity books and 3 Samantha books. I think she's in her room now reading even more. Is this normal? Should I take her temperature?

That's fabulous! I could read for long, long periods of time when I was that age, and I wish I had the leisure to do so now. As it is, when I get absorbed in a book I feel like I just ignore my poor family until I finish it.

How wonderful!! I used to do that when I was younger too... and still do once and a while now, but the time to do so is always so elusive. Great that your dd is into the AG books too- must be a great thing for you to have in common!

It was normal for me! I devoured books, and especially AG books. It's wonderful that she's such a voracious reader!

    Dear Concerned Mom,

You have nothing to be concerned about! This is normal behavior for a just-starting addiction to American Girls. But I feel I should warn you, it can spread to other books too.

    Dear Concerned Mom,

This is a common reaction children have when their imaginations are brought to life through good books. However, this condition can become chronic and cause a life time of joy and knowledge if encouraged.

Your daugther sounds like me at that age! I used to spend my allowance at John Rollin's every week. I admit, I don't read as much as I did before I discovered online, but I still go through at least one adult book a week. Loved it then, loved it now!

I like to read lots of books too. I read all of Sams really fast. Now I am going to read Kits. I really like them so I think it is cool that she reads them so fast.

My 10 year old daughter just read Felicity Learns a Lesson on 1 school night. I think it is really great that Nicolle is getting into AG. She is at the perfect age to really understand and remember the books. BRAVO, NICOLLE!

Marina, that's great that you love to read so much. I'm an English major in college and all I do is read!

    Enjoy Kit's stories!
